Iraqi forces advance on Mosul’s Old City Iraqi troops say they’ve opened five humanitarian corridors for civilians fleeing Mosul as they launch their final assault on the ISIL-held city. Around 100,000 civilians live in the Old City of Mosul, a maze of narrow streets and alleyways where fighting is expected to be conducted house to house.
